Liu Xu, Master and Ph.D. in Crop Genetics and Breeding, Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), and plant germplasm resource scientist. He served as the Vice President of CAE, member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) group and the Vice President of CAAS. Dr. Xu organized and led researches on collection, conservation, evaluation and utilization of crop germplasm resources, technological mechanism and application of the diversity of crop germplasm resources. He presided over the compilation of  (eight volumes),  (110 volumes). He won many national-level, provincial-level and ministerial-level scientific and technological progress awards. He participated in the preparatory work for major projects on national crop genetic resources & genetic improvement, researches and implementation of development strategies on the information sharing platform for basic work and national science and technology resources.
