Qiu Baoxing, Doctor of Economics, Doctor of Urban Planning, Counselor of the State Council of China, Chairman of International Water Association (IWA) China Committee, President of the China Society for Urban Studies, Ph.D. supervisor of famous universities in China, including Tongji University, Renmin University, Zhejiang University, Tianjin University and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He had served for the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese government for nearly 18 years. He was a visiting scholar at Harvard University to participate in research projects. As a former Vice Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of China, he was in charge of urban planning and construction for 13 years. He served as the deputy chief of the Wenchuan Earthquake Reconstruction Coordination Group of the State Council and was responsible for the major project on national water body pollution control. Over 30 of his consulting reports had been commented by the Chinese Premier. He has won multiple awards granted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the World Green Building Council and the International Water Supply Association. Many of his books have been translated and published by publishers in the UK, Germany and Italy.
